The Zodiacal Identity Crisis Of Pisces

The Pisces individual has always had a knack for absorbing their lover’s identity. Particularly with strong placements like Sun, Moon, or Venus in Pisces. Or if Pisces falls in the 5th, 7th, or 8th house. I’ve always found this glamour camouflaging to be fascinating, especially among strong Piscean women.
Recently I streamed Gwen Stefani’s new very country album, Bouquet. I have listened to Gwen say in several interviews that she no longer identifies with her old ska and pop musical roots. And that this new found image and musical identity feels like home to her. She is also very vocal about being utterly in love with Blake Shelton, who she’s been with for several years now. I have always loved Gwen with all my heart since I was a child. Her outrageously original style and attitude helped me feel at home within myself growing up. I can’t help but feel very strange about her new identity, but it’s not because I don’t approve or particularly like it. Her loud new country girl image feels a bit awkward, and the album is even stranger. Her vocal range feels very strained to me as she contorts herself into these songs. The lyrics are very hallmark card cringe at times, as if they came from a very surface level, cookie cutter place. When you take the whole album into account with her new image, you get Blake Shelton. Immediately after listening to this album and watching her music video, I HAD to pull up her chart to find the Pisces! Sure enough, Gwen has her North Node at 20 degrees Pisces in the 4th house. A clear indication that she will catalog through zodiacal identities to find “home.” And you can’t even really be mad about it.
See, I actually think that Gwen has been tapping into this gift all her life, which is why her style has always been colorful and unique. Pisces is the 12th sign in the Zodiac, which gives it the gift of walking in all the shoes of each sign. It is the culmination. The problem here is that an individual with strong Pisces placements can become so consumed by love that they feel they must embody all of their partner. They want to drink them in, consuming them rapidly. Completely. Just as a Siren can devour a suitor in the midst of raging ocean waves. The cold rapids and the screams do not phase them. It is a fixated rush. When it comes to love, most of the time this rush is not calculated. Pisces does not know they are taking on the skin of their lover, just as a Chameleon is not consciously aware of it’s appearance when it blends into it’s scenery. Rather, it transpires from a natural gift for survival. When Pisces becomes consumed with love, they may start to believe that they MUST resemble their partner in order to hold onto their love. Especially if coming from a previous painful relationship, emotional invalidation, or they are experiencing a wildly passionate romance for the first time. Over time, the charm of this identity merging can fade, as Pisces sheds themselves to become more and more like their lover…..The partner begins to see the original traits of Pisces, which they fell in love with…fade away.
The greatest gifts of Pisces are activated when they can explore and play within the realms of all the signs. Never allowing themselves to drink too much of one all consuming potion. But utilizing the powers of all to create something entirely new. Pisces also teaches us the intensive effects of absorbing the sexual partner’s energy. They are an excellent example of this energy consumption. I consider Pisces to be the teacher for the general rule of thumb: If you wouldn’t want to be them, you shouldn’t have sex with them. The vibrations you will download from their energy field won’t serve you if they are much lower than your own.
